This blog's purpose
On Jan 2nd, 2018, at the age of 95, a great man left this world - Domenico D'Angela. He was a husband, a father, a fighter, a grandfather and great grandfather. He was affectionately nicknamed the 'bionic' man, due to all the surgeries he successfully endured. More importantly, he was our Nonno - a model of goodness and courage.
The following blog post is his story. Written in his elder years, recounting the many struggles in his life. With the few years of education he received in Italy as a child, he transcribed some of the darkest moments of his life.
After reading his story, you may assume he was a pessimist, sad and depressed. Nothing could be further from that. The trials he faced made him eternally grateful for all that he had, no matter how insignificant they may seem to others. That is why he wanted his story to be shared.
This story of his is meant to inspire everyone to be grateful for whatever they have, no matter how little. And like our grandfather's spirit, may his story live forever, inspiring people to always see the bright side.
We miss you, Nonno.
Love always and until we see you again,
Your D'Angela family
